Providing clean and affordable water is one of the greatest challenges of the twenty-first century. Membrane technology could be a promising approach while high energy consumption is typically required for pressure-driven membranes to remove micropollutants in water. My research is at the intersection of materials science and process engineering, developing low-pressure ultrafiltration membranes enhanced by the nanotechnology-enabled function materials, to improve the efficiency and affordability of water treatment and wastewater reuse.
